Menya Saisai

It was a slow Saturday and I needed dinner, but wasn't willing to go out of my way to a stamp rally location. A while back I had heard from a friend that Menya Saisai in Namba had switched their menu up, so I decided to give it a visit. In addition to the various shio bowls they still had from my first visit, they now had a couple of miso bowls and pork chicken ramen. The staff recommended the latter, so that's what I went with.

The Bowl
As you would expect from the name, this was a ramen with a very umami broth; meaty with pork and chicken, and with an overabundance of salt. The noodles swam in the bumpy soup; just the right size of noodles for a bowl of this consistency. The chashu, on the other hand, was much easier to down, and was surprisingly a good palate cleanser between slurps. Despite these bright spots, though, there was a bit too much salt to allow this ramen to achieve greatness.

Would I Go Again?
Maybe; I'm curious about the miso, but I don't know if I'll ever make it.

Should You Go?
This place is for those who want salt and meat. Others can skip it.
