Kotetsu

I got back to Osaka after my trip to Tokyo, and was ready to hit some more new shops. On this night I visited Kotetsu, a brand new shop in Shin-Osaka. Their menu was simple, which I appreciate: ramen, or niku miso ramen. I ordered the one with the extra meat.

東京の旅行が終わって、大阪に帰りました。めっちゃ最近できた「小鉄」という新大阪にある店に行ってみました。メニューはシンプルで気に入りました。ラーメンと肉味噌ラーメンだけでした。肉が多い方にしました。

The Bowl
The ramen was an oily if middling shoyu; not too light, not too dark, but lacking any major characteristic of its own. The noodles were medium and round, and were missing flavor because the soup was a bit too thin for them. The chashu too did not stand out, but the niku miso was good and added some much needed spice to the bowl.

ラーメンが脂っこくて、あっさり系でした。薄くもなくて、暗くもかかったですけど、もと特徴が欲しかったです。中太麺が丸くて、スープにちょっと太かったです。チャーシューよりやっぱり肉味噌が気になりました。肉味噌で、ラーメンがちょっとピリ辛になりました。

I won't make it back to this place.

また行く機会がやっぱりなさそうです。

Marusho

Taiwan maze soba is in. Abura soba has always been a variety of ramen that has been missing from Osaka, but not any longer. At the time of writing, I've been to several shops in Osaka specializing it, and I'm sure more will open before I even post this.

What is Taiwan maze soba? It's a form of abura soba that has ground meat, shredded seaweed, onions, and chives, all with a raw egg sitting on top. There's some spice usually mixed in to make it have a wee bit of a kick. Marusho opened in Esaka in 2014, but several months later they opened a second branch in Shin Osaka, making it just that much easier for me to visit.

台湾まぜそばははやっていますね。大阪には油そばの店がいつも少ないです。でも、最近台湾まぜそば専門店が転々できてきています。

台湾まぜそばとは何でしょうか?ミンチ、海苔、タマネギ、ニラなど乗っている油そばです。一番上に生玉子が乗っています。あと、いろんなスパイスが混ざっているので、ピリ辛のが多いです。マルショウは2014年に江坂で開店しましたけど、何ヶ月後新大阪で二号店ができました。ほんで、行きやすくなりました。

The Bowl
Time for the verdict. This was my first bowl of Taiwan maze soba, and it set the scene well. The noodles were thick and slightly fat. They had a glean to them given by the raw egg, and it helped them capture stray chives and seaweed as they rotated around the bowl. It had a good spice and was a bit salty overall. Luckily they provided vinegar on the side that cut the saltiness and mellowed the bowl out for its last few bites. With the remaining sauces and toppings, I was given ato meshi, a bit of extra rice that is becoming more common to soak up the last juicy bits.

結局どうだったでしょうか?私の初めての台湾まぜそばで、うまかったです。麺が太くてちょっと平打ちでした。生玉子でちょっと輝いて、散らしているニラと海苔を絡んでいました。全体的にピリ辛でちょっと塩っぱかったですけど、用意してくれたお酢を入れたら、柔らかくなりました。残っているタレにあとめしを入れて、最後のトッピングまで食べれました

Would I Go Again?
Yeah, this was a good Taiwan maze soba, and I would happily bring someone to introduce them to the style.

かなりうまいまぜそばだったので、友達を連れて行きたいです。

Hanamichi

A couple years ago I swung by a shop called Hanamichi in Abiko. I ordered their shoyu ramen, which was a pretty solid bowl. Well on this night I find myself in Shin Osaka, looking for dinner. Another branch of Hanamichi happened to be close by, so I decided to find out what the miso I didn't get to try all that time ago was like.

二年ぐらい前にあびこにある「はなみち」という店に行きました。醤油ラーメンを頼んで、おいしかったです。今回新大阪にいて何か食べたかったです。はなみちの支店が近くにあったので食べる機会がなかった味噌を食べてみようと思いました。

The Bowl
The strong miso tare flavor came through in the bowl, though it clearly had a tonkotsu base. The underlying soup was porky, garlicky, and salty, all in just a little bit too high quantities. The curly noodles fit the bowl pretty well, hot from the grease but with a bit of chewiness to them. The chashu too was mixed - there were a couple of small slices that were mostly fat, but also melted in my mouth. It was a solid bowl overall, but a bit on the salty side.

豚骨スープの味が濃かったですけど、味噌たれの味も感じました。スープは塩辛くてけっこうニンニクが入っていました。縮れ麺がもちもちで熱いスープと合いました。チャーシューは油っぽかったですけど口でとろけました。全体的にうまかったですけど、ちょっと塩っぱい方でした。

Would I Go Again?
Maybe, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

また行くつもりじゃありませんけど、近くにおなかが空いたら行っちゃうかもしれません。

It's not a bad bowl if you're in the area.

店の近くにいるなら行ってもいいです。
