Tomoyoshi

In store for today was a trip to Tomoyoshi, up past Shin-Osaka. They make a variety of thick ramen and tsukemen, and I ordered the tsukemen laden with toppings.

今回新大阪より北にある「麺道 ともよし」に行ってきました。いろんな濃厚なラーメンとつけ麺を提供していて、特製つけ麺にしました。

The Bowl
A good gyokai tonkotsu, maybe even a little lighter than standard. The noodles were fat and springy, and the chashu was tender and soaked in shoyu.

標準よりちょっとあっさりとして、うまい魚介とんこつでした。麺は太って、腰がありました。チャーシューは柔らかくて、醤油角煮となりました。

On this day I decided to leave my normal area and visit Nakaue, a shop a bit north of Shin Osaka. They had a variety of ramen and I was leaning towards getting the tsukemen, but the staff recommended the fish and chicken shoyu ramen, so I went for that.

この日に普段いる範囲を出て、新大阪よりちょい北にある「中うえ」に行ってきました。いろいろな種類があって、つけ麺にしようかなと悩みましたけど、店員さんに端麗醤油ラーメンをお勧めしてもらったので、それにしました。

The Bowl
I was expecting some kind of mellow seafood broth, but this was instead a dark, garlicky scallop soup. The noodles were flat and yellow, and after soaking up the soup tasted like shredded scallops. The soup was pretty unusual, while the chashu came in serviceable standard slices.

まろやかな魚介系のスープと期待していましたけど、真っ黒なニンニクが効いているホタテの味のスープでした。麺は平打ちで黄色で、スープに入っていたらホタテ的な味が強くなりました。スープはふつうと違いましたけど、チャーシューはよく見る細め何枚かのスライスでした。

Would I Go Again?
It was pretty interesting; I might check it out if I happen to be in the area again.

普通のラーメンと違って、また近くにいれば行くかもしれません。

This is a good place for those die-hard seafood ramen lovers.

魚介系ラーメンが好きな方にお勧めします。

Kotetsu

I got back to Osaka after my trip to Tokyo, and was ready to hit some more new shops. On this night I visited Kotetsu, a brand new shop in Shin-Osaka. Their menu was simple, which I appreciate: ramen, or niku miso ramen. I ordered the one with the extra meat.

東京の旅行が終わって、大阪に帰りました。めっちゃ最近できた「小鉄」という新大阪にある店に行ってみました。メニューはシンプルで気に入りました。ラーメンと肉味噌ラーメンだけでした。肉が多い方にしました。

The Bowl
The ramen was an oily if middling shoyu; not too light, not too dark, but lacking any major characteristic of its own. The noodles were medium and round, and were missing flavor because the soup was a bit too thin for them. The chashu too did not stand out, but the niku miso was good and added some much needed spice to the bowl.

ラーメンが脂っこくて、あっさり系でした。薄くもなくて、暗くもかかったですけど、もと特徴が欲しかったです。中太麺が丸くて、スープにちょっと太かったです。チャーシューよりやっぱり肉味噌が気になりました。肉味噌で、ラーメンがちょっとピリ辛になりました。

Would I Go Again?
I won't make it back to this place.

また行く機会がやっぱりなさそうです。
